Positions for the management board of LUJA Volume Seven (2019/2020) are now open!

Management Board positions are accepted from all Wilfrid Laurier University undergraduate students, regardless of department or major. There are currently two open positions on the management board: Web Director and first year Member at Large. All positions require a cover letter and resume submitted to luja.ca/submissions.

Chairperson:

This individual facilitates all meetings, delegates tasks, and assists other board members when required. Other duties include attending AUS’s presidential meetings, contacting faculty members, and seeking out new events and initiatives. The person holding this position must have a good relationship with a number of professors and staff from different departments of the university. This position is expected to promote the journal to faculty in order to gain support and recognition for LUJA. The goal is to have faculty members assist in stimulating our submission count.

This position is currently filled by Avianna Del Piero.

Editor-in-Chief:

These individuals are responsible for compiling a team of reviewers and editors to sort through article submissions. They will oversee every aspect of the publication process from choosing the papers to the final product. These positions should be filled by two individuals in excellent academic standing with a firm understanding of arts papers.

This position is currently held by Mckenna Barr, and Davis Drover.

Treasurer/Secretary:

This individual is responsible for keeping minutes at all the Management Board meetings. This position is also responsible for making reimbursement claims for all LUJA-related spending and booking rooms for LUJA events. They will work closely with the chairperson to ensure that all LUJA events run smoothly.

This position is currently held by Hayley Brennan.

Web Director:

This individual is responsible for managing LUJA’s website. In addition to keeping the website up-to-date, they will also be responsible for fixing any bugs or glitches in the system. They will work closely with the chairperson to ensure that all LUJA deadlines are met effectively.

This position is currently available for hiring.

Communications Director:

This individual is responsible for maintaining LUJA’s on-campus presence and posting on LUJA’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds. This position is also required to visit with other student groups, societies, and publications in order to promote LUJA and stimulate submissions. This position may also be responsible in assisting the Member at Large to monitor and accept articles as they are submitted for consideration.

This position is currently held by Raquel Sa.

Creative Director:

This individual is responsible for designing the layout the journal. This position is also required to design LUJA’s banners, posters, and other advertising material. This individual will also be responsible for running and monitoring the annual cover art contest. Creativity and Photoshop skills are an asset for this position, and InDesign experience is a necessity, however the individual does not need to have a current subscription.

This position is currently filled by Emma Soden.

Events Director:

This position is an opportunity for an outgoing person to help plan LUJA’s larger events, such as the launch party, conference, and training sessions. The ideal candidate would be willing to make connections and will be a problem-solver. They will work very closely with the Chairperson to ensure that all events are as professional as possible.

This position is currently held by Adonia Liu.

Member at Large:

The Member at Large is required to organize and record all written submissions for the journal, as well as assist in the distribution of articles to editors and reviewers. This individual is responsible for assisting other members of the board in their roles. This position is limited exclusively to a first-year student who wishes to experience a wide range of responsibilities within the LUJA board.
