The Process

LUJA understands that the management of an academic journal is a year-long commitment. We strive for continued transparency in our process and have our own monthly goals in anticipation for annual publication.

 

In recent years, the LUJA team has followed this tentative timeline:

January• Call for submissions
• January 31: Tentative Deadline for submissions to LUJA
February• Editorial Board: Training for Reviewers
• Editorial Board: Reviewers sort and rank papers
• Editorial Board: Reviewer Meeting – selection of papers. All names and identifying marks are removed to ensure fairness in our double-blind selection process.
March• Submission acceptances are sent out
• Editorial Board: Training for Editors
• Editorial Board: Editing Begins – all papers are edited by two editors on the board as well as by both Editors-in-Chief. All edits are communicated to the authors in order to implement changes. Authors are expected to send papers back to the Editors in Chief for review
• Hiring opens for the next volume’s Management Board
April• Editorial Board: Editing in progress
• End of Year Party
May• Editorial Board: Editing in progress
June• Editorial Board: Editing in progress
• Journal design/page layout in progress
July• Final design elements are added to the journal in preparation for publication
August• Final design elements are added to the journal in preparation for publication
• Copy editor reviews the journal
• Any necessary changes are made with Editors-in-Chief and the authors
September• Journal ready for publication
• Any remaining Management Board spots filled in preparation for the new volume
October• LUJA Launch Party – celebrate the official release of LUJA’s newest volume
November• Editorial Board: Hiring Reviewers and Editors
December• Editorial Board: First Meeting
